Linwright Design Newsletter – December 22, 2009

Another month has flown by for Linwright Design, and it’s been a great month. In reality, it’s been a great year, and once again Linwright Design would not even be a reality if it wasn’t for wonderful clients like you guys!
The holidays are here, and I can’t wait to get together with family to open presents, eat that great holiday feast, and settle in with some spiked hot chocolate and a warm fire. No matter whom you are spending your holidays with; I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Once again, if you have family or friends in the military, they’re in my thoughts and I wish them a safe and happy holiday as well.

It’s been a crazy year for Linwright Design, and there are a lot of changes happening within the SEO field.
So, what happened in 2009? Well, Twitter exploded, Facebook grew up, Google’s reign over the search is still monopolizing the industry, MSN and Yahoo is becoming one, Bing is catching up, and the blogosphere is always stirring things up.
Google Wave hit the market, a new way to communicate through live emails and updates, and everyone was fighting over those Wave Invites. I have Google Wave, and I’ve yet to get the full usage out of it. Google’s monopoly of not only the search, but of the internet in general, has left more and more webmasters and marketers at odds with their tactics.
With Twitter becoming a force in the search market, Google has added a live search to their repertoire. You can find it in the “show options” link on the Google search page (look for “latest”). And with the new “personalized searches” that are coming to Google, SEO is changing. The more traffic that you can bring to your website, the better it will rank.
As RSS feed mills have become less and less powerful in the SEO market, Twitter has picked up the slack. In many ways, Twitter has become the new RSS feed mill by making it more social and engaging. Now, instead of just adding your RSS feed to a submission site, Twitter allows you to post it repeatedly along with comments and responses. Twitter exploded this year, and some proof of that is when Iranian protests were organized and promoted through this social network. This one instance changed the way many looked at Twitter’s power.
And then there’s Facebook, and it’s complete domination of that old Facebook vs MySpace battle. With its growth has come privacy problems and layout issues, but overall it has grown by leaps and bounds and will continue to grow well into next year. In 2009, Facebook grew by 276%! While many question if Facebook is growing up too fast, it has become a strong marketing force with nearly 350 million users!

Google is becoming so smart and has monitored our internet usage for so long that many are worried their domination over the search will mean all SEO efforts will be futile. They fear that Google will just know what websites are important, not based on optimization or marketing efforts, but based on what they believe is important. But, then again, those are probably the same people who believe the world will end in 2012.
Foursquare is another booming idea that has started slowly, but over the past year is picking up some serious steam. This is an application that you can get on your phone, or simply add to your Twitter. Businesses will also sign up with Foursquare to post all coupons and specials. The rub is that is that if you have the app on your phone, it will alert you when you are near one of the Foursquare coupon featured businesses. It’s rather amazing, especially during the holidays.
Interactive websites, where chat bars and new commenting applications will be all the rage. Instead of going to your Twitter or Facebook page to interact with your brand, in many cases the interaction can occur directly on your site.
Big things are coming next year, where mobile applications will continue to dominate and grow, social media will generate millions ($), and blogging will continue to overtake every news outlet.

Linnwright Design Newsletter – November 27, 2009

A month has gone by for Linwright Design, and this month wouldn’t have been possible without you. I wanted to personally thank you for your belief in Linwright Design, and your faith in the programs offered. This has been an amazing month!
I started Linwright Design just about two months ago with the idea that Wordpress web design matched perfectly with the content marketing model of SEO. This model is all about writing, writing, and writing some more. Not too long ago I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in journalism and was looking forward to my career in print news. It was about that time that the print industry fell apart, and I realized that the internet was a perfect fit for many writers. Content marketing, matched with some social media efforts and link building, is an affordable and extremely effective way to climb the rankings of SERPS.

November has been a wonderful month for Linwright Design. The business has grown dramatically, and has worked hard to rank client’s websites. Content marketing is a longer battle, but, in the end, it is one of the most effective ways to get rankings.
Congratulations to idSafeUSA on the re-launch of their website! The new site looks great, and the blog that was just added to it will help keep the on-site content fresh for Google spiders.
A big thank you to John Bowler from SynergyPartnersInc.com! With his partnership, Linwright Design is sure to grow by leaps and bounds. I would also like to welcome Coree Silvera from MarketLikeAChick.com to the Linwright family. With her amazing networking abilities, I have no doubt she will make a great addition to the team.
Congratulations to Signature MD! Linwright Design has successfully ranked the Signature MD blog on the first page of Google for one of the targeted keywords. A special thanks to Matt Jacobson for having the insight and patience that allowed me to get some movement on his sites. It’s just one accomplishment of many to come for Linwright Design clients.
Finally, I would like to thank Chad Harris for his wonderful referrals and enthusiasm. Linwright Design would not have been possible without a little head-start and push from a great businessman and entrepreneur. Thanks!

Last, but not least, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I certainly know that I have a lot to be thankful for, and it’s because of my wonderful family, great friends, and amazing clients like you that this will be another joyful holiday.
If you are spending Thanksgiving here in the valley, I wish you a very happy holiday. If you are heading out of town, I wish you safe travels. If you have family in the military during this holiday season, you are definitely in my thoughts.
Thanksgiving Day will be an off day for Linwright Design, but we will be back to work bright and early Friday morning! Once again, thank you for everything!
